Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Amethyst Assessment Centre is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

The first reporting year is 2024. Amethyst Assessment Centre is a newly established micro company. The service is mainly remote with staff working from home, though also operates in rented offices with utilities included. We are a completely paperless organisation. Scope 3 calculations include employee commuting, home energy use for remote working, office energy use, business travel, and purchased services. | |

Emissions reduction targets
Carbon Reduction Initiatives Undertaken to Date
Remote and Digital Delivery. We have shifted 70% of services to virtual platforms, reducing travel-related emissions for staff and patients. We have invested in secure digital technology for consultations and assessments, storage of confidential information and communication with patients is fully digital.
Sustainable Procurement. We aim to prioritise suppliers with environmental certifications for office supplies. We no longer use any single-use plastics in office operations.
Waste Reduction. We have implemented a recycling program for paper, electronics, and other office waste and we are a completely paperless service for record-keeping and communication.
To continue our progress toward achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
- Deliver assessments through digital platforms where clinically indicated, potentially further reducing travel-related emissions.
- Encourage staff to use public transport, cycling, or carpooling with incentives including travel reimbursements for sustainable modes.
- Provide flexible remote working options.
- Look to switch to carbon-neutral green hosting and cloud services.
- Engage with the landlord on energy efficiency
- Source any potential supplies from local and sustainable vendors to minimise transportation emissions and support the green economy.
- Maintain paperless service.
- Expand recycling initiatives and promote reuse of materials where possible.
- Educate staff on sustainability practices and incentivise engagement.
- Encourage patients and families to participate in eco-friendly initiatives, such as using digital assessments instead of travelling.
- Look to reach out to local services for support in developing strategies to meet our net zero targets.
- We will implement a monitoring framework to track progress toward sustainability objectives throughout the contract, to include track and report emissions from practitioner and patient travel, office energy use and procurement activities.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 2.5 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 50%
